Belize 2014 - Part 1

Day 1:
A long awaited and totally necessary vacation began on Monday morning when I headed out of LGA and after a 40 minute delay on the tarmac, I was treated to great view of Queens (Billie Jean Tennis Center under construction apparently & Citi Field) and Manhattan as I departed for Houston.
We were greeted with a substantial and excruciating wait getting through customs in Belize .
The drivers are daredevils, especially the truck drivers who can barely pass on this narrow bridge.
Peter, our golf cart taxi driver, picked us up at the water taxi dock with his 6 year old son who proceeded to introduce us to all the local places to dine, shop for necklaces and stuff, dive shops and the best ice cream shop on the island.  He must have read our bios.  They also informed us of the island mottoes, "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem" and my favorite:  "Slow down.  We have two cemeteries and no hospital."

With Michelle as we settle into our new luxury condo for the week, Caye Reef.
The view from our balcony overlooking the pool, and what will reveal in the daylight as the shoreline.
